Outlook practice mode

Practice mode (Learn → Outlook practice in the app, at /app/practice) drills the one skill the whole system leans on: reading the general market.

  1. You’re shown a real historical S&P 500 chart up to some past date — price and volume only, no label.
  2. You call the regime: Confirmed Uptrend, Uptrend Under Pressure, Rally Attempt, or Market in Correction.
  3. The reveal grades you against the classifier’s call for that date, shows the facts it used (distribution-day count, follow-through status, trend position), and — so you learn outcomes rather than labels — what the index actually did 2, 4, and 8 weeks later.

Days are sampled across six years of history and balanced across regime classes, so the rare calls (rally attempts, fresh follow-throughs) come up often enough to practice. Your score and streak are stored only in your browser.

With AI enabled, a tutor explains each answer from the classifier’s own facts — why those distribution days matter, what would have to happen for the call to change. The explanation is generated from the computed facts for that date, not from the AI’s opinion of the market.

One honest caveat: you’re being graded against the app’s algorithmic proxy, not against ground truth. The classifier itself is wrong sometimes — the point of the exercise is internalizing the method, not memorizing its answers.
